Celebrate summer and Black lives with stories, dance, and crafts created by Black artist and writers.  The Beautiful Black Bird Childrenʻs Book Festival is adding new videos every Friday until August 31.  Often featuring authors and performers from Maine, the videos offer short bursts of fun and contemplation.  Settle in for a picture book read by its author or grab some paper to fold a blackbird claw.  Perfect for families with elementary school-aged kids in need of creative inspiration.

The festival is presented by Portlandʻs Indigo Arts Alliance, a Black-led multicultural organization which fosters creative expression and encourages all of us to “imagine more compassionate, generous, and welcoming human societies.”  The Indigo Arts Alliance was co-founded by artist and illustrator Daniel Minter.  (Mr. Minter also co-created the Portland Freedom Trail.)
